After enjoying a long, but very hot, Memorial Day weekend with record setting temperatures I was excited to meet up with Kellie and Matt on Tuesday for their one-of-a-kind engagement session. Seriously, there were so many personal touches throughout their session: a bottle of champagne that was given to them by a friend congratulating their engagement, a hand knit blanket made for Kellie by her grandmother and a restored classic car that her Grandpa had tirelessly rebuilt back to it's original, incredible form. It was important to the couple to include all of these personal touches, which speaks very highly of how amazing these two truly are!
Kellie and Matt met at St Charles Country Club. Both of their parent's were members and friends, so they got to know each other growing up. When they reached an appropriate age, their parent's started dropping subtle (and not so subtle hints) that they should date. Finally, after years of fighting it, they decided to give it a try. They had their first date during a golf tournament at the club and dinner afterwords. Two years later, Matt was proposing to Kellie in Central Park! Obviously she said yes because here we are today!!!
The couple chose to have their engagement session take place in Wheaton. The downtown Wheaton area is beautiful with so many photo opportunities. We started in the Hurley Gardens to capture more a park setting. Poor Matt was dying, but very handsome, in his white button down shirt and navy pants. It might have been cooler than the past few days, but it was still VERY humid! He did not complain once though, being they awesome guy he is! After we finished photos around the grounds we switched to the beautiful classic that was graciously driven to us by Kellie's brother (who also put up with me asking him to relocate the car for the perfect photo position when we switched to downtown Wheaton. Thank you!)
After a quick outfit change we resumed photos on a brick paved road with a beautiful ivy backdrop. Between the picnic setting and this one you would almost think the couple was in Europe rather than Wheaton! Our evening finished with a stroll around a block, stopping for photos along the way, peaking in a candy store and finishing with a sweet treat.
Kellie and Matt, Congratulations again! I loved getting to know you both a little bit more. I cannot wait for your wedding this December. Enjoy every moment until then because they are all special! XOXO Joy
