The Value In Family Photos

The expression goes, "it will happen in a blink of an eye". And, it's true! One minute you are in the hospital giving birth to this perfect little being and the next you are sitting in the bleachers watching your child graduate from high school. What makes time pass so quickly, I have no idea! The older I get the faster it seems to disappear. However, that is why it's even more special to document all those memories.

I highly recommend having your family portrait captured once a year, at least until your "little birdie has left the nest". Then maybe every five years or if there is a special milestone moment. It is easy to put off taking family portraits. I get it. It's work. You have to find a time that you are all available, which is tougher when the kids getting older. You have to figure out what you are going to wear and coordinate with everyone in your family. You have to find a photographer that you enjoy spending time with and appreciate their art. Again, it's work. But, aren't most things that require effort the most rewarding. How special it will be years later to have all those moments frozen in time so that your kids can one day show their kids.

My job, as photographer, is to make this process as easy for you as possible. Once we have booked your date I send you my "What To Wear" guide that gives pointers for what looks best on camera as well as specific body types (I learned a lot during my research!). I have locations that I can suggest to alleviate your stress of finding a spot and I try to be as fun as possible, so it doesn't feel like work.

Truth moment, posing is awkward. You will be uncomfortable twisting and leaning in ways that are probably not as comfortable as slouching on the couch at home, but that's what looks best to the camera. I've seen photos of me slouched on the couch. I'm cringing just thinking about it. UGH!

In addition to my standard portrait session I have begun offering mini sessions in a limited quantity. These are only available a few times a year, but it's a great way to keep your family photos up to date without breaking the bank. If you are interested please email me to have your name added to the mailing list! Let's have a little fun together!!!!
