Weko Beach Bridgman, Michigan Proposal | Liz & Gabe

I have always had a soft spot for Michigan, so when Gabe reached out and asked me to photograph his proposal at Weko Beach in Bridgman, Michigan during Memorial Day weekend, I jumped at the chance. Not only that, but Liz is the third Kelsey family member to step in front of my camera after I photographed both Jon and Angel’s weddings over the years.
Gabe had a vision for this proposal from the start. The pair stumbled upon Weko Beach a few years ago on an overcast, slightly rainy day and completely fell in love with its charm. I’ll admit, I had never even heard of it before, but it is absolutely adorable.
Liz had two dresses picked for the occasion, so she knew a proposal was coming at some point. She just didn’t know when or where. Day one came and went with no ring, so naturally she started suspecting day two had to be it.
Gabe told me the plan was to spend part of the afternoon at the beach, head to dinner, then come back for a romantic walk along the shoreline. Since it was a cooler Memorial Day weekend, the beach was practically empty. Perfect for a proposal.
Meanwhile, I was hiding on a staircase in a ball cap and hood because I knew the second Liz saw me she would figure it out. The two of us texted back and forth while I stayed hidden waiting for the moment.
And it was perfect.
The ring was even more meaningful. An emerald stone matching both of their birth months.
Afterward, we spent the rest of the evening strolling the beach, laughing, and capturing this brand new chapter together. It truly was a picture perfect proposal and I am honored to have been there to witness it.
Congratulations Liz and Gabe!!!
